Beauty In the City
City Church spent the morning yesterday worshipping in the form of picking up trash in our neighborhood - and what a gift it was (see pick below).
Sometimes we can think of cities as dirty, crowded and absent of the beauty of God, but that’s not how the scripture tells the story. In the Song of Solomon, the beloved is compared to whole cities or parts of cities as a way to highlight her beauty:
You are beautiful, my love, as Tirzah, lovely as Jerusalem (6:4)
Your eyes are pools of Heshbon at the gate of Bat-Rabbim (7:5)
Your neck is like the Tower of David (4:4)
As an act of worship and devotion today, think with God about what’s beautiful about your city and how it gives hints of heavenly goodness. Thanks God for all the good you can think of.
