A Letter from Your Pastor
Friends, church, we miss you. We're thankful for the technology that helps us stay connected in this season, and at the same time, we're so deeply tired of it. We know you are too. We have this deep, holy craving to give people actual hugs, to talk to our friends and family face to face, up close and personal instead of through a screen. Wow, this time is teaching us so much about our need for each other.
Would you stay present to those good hungers today and in the weeks to come? Would you let yourself feel the sadness and keep leaning towards each other anyway, keep loving, keep hoping, keep connecting? The writer of Hebrews encourages us this way in ch. 10:
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
Let us consider how... There's freedom there, can't you smell it? Maybe you need a break from Zoom, so you send some actual letters, or drop off some actual flowers. Maybe you need to take some walks while you talk to your friends on the phone, so your body gets some movement. Maybe [you fill in the blank, you're probably a lot more creative than me!].
Friends, church, we miss you - we love you. This time is teaching us so much about our need for each other. Let's not give up - he who promised is faithful.
