A Whimsical Interpretation
Praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise God!
The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
God gathers the exiles of Israel.
God heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
God determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name. - Psalm 147:1-4
These are the verses we looked at yesterday in the message. If I (Bill) could summarize in a very casual sort of way how Meghan and Brenna taught through it, this might be another way to translate it:
Wow, God is so great
because we’re finally getting our feet under us
after being beat down and stuck.
God is a healer -
pulling us back into community and using it to heal us.
God saw us when we were feeling distant
God remembers our name when we were just a speck.
There’s praise for God because we’re in a good spot. We were NOT always in a good spot - we were exiles! But God heals, God sees - and God does a lot of the healing in community by bringing the downcast back together and using each other in the restoration.
Can you read through those verses (or that whimsical translation) and put yourself in there? How has God done this for you? And if you’re feeling like a far off speck, tell God that also!
