Aaron's Blessing

The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

‘“The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
    and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
    and give you peace.”’

So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”
- Numbers 6:22-27

This is the blessing that is said over City Church at the end of most of our Sunday gatherings. It’s wild to think that it’s 3500 years old!

There’s something about a blessing that is sticky. The Lord says that as they bless others that “they will put my name on the Israelites.” God’s name gets stuck to us as people bless us. It’s like glue. As we bless people, they experience God’s goodness and it stays with them.
