All Music Is Worship Music
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” - Luke 2:13-14
The shepherds certainly seemed inspired by the angels’s song. What music do you listen to? Does the music you listen to draw you closer to God or further away? Certainly some music has expressly religious themes, but all music draws our attention to something by telling a story or painting a picture or just creating a ‘vibe.’ As one leader said,
All music-not just Christian music but all music- is worship music, because every song is amplifying the value of something. There’s a trail of our time, our affections, our allegiance, our devotion, our money. That trail leads to a throne, and whatever’s on that throne is what we worship. We’re all doing a great job of it because God has created us to be worshipers. The problem is that a lot of us have really bad gods.

Today, take some time to ponder how music affects your connection with God. And if it would be helpful, maybe listen to a song that might help you lean in towards Jesus on your journey today, like Moving Forward by Israel Houghton.
