An Exercise in Prayer
Today we’re going to try to exercise our prayer muscle a bit. Here’s one of the prayers that we looked at in service yesterday:
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus… - Philippians 1:3-6
Take a moment and think about this: who might pray a prayer like this for you? You may not come up with anyone, and that’s ok. But someone might come to mind. If so, who is it and why might they be praying it for you?
Now take a moment and think about who in your life you could pray this for. Who comes to mind?
Take a few minutes and change up the words, but still use this basic prayer to pray for that person/s. For example, it might look something like this…
God, thank you so much for Caris. Thank you for the way you made her and all the ways she’s partnering with you in making the world better. I believe you are at work in her now and will continue to be all the days of her life. Bless her…
