Being Held by Jesus

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” - Matthew 18:3

And Jesus took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. - Mark 10:16

Jesus always seemed to make time for kids. He prayed for them, healed them, blessed them. How does that compare to how our world treats children? As the great human rights activist said, “There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children” (Nelson Mandela).

Sometimes looking at our great wonder or our deep insecurity can be an invitation to find the little one inside of you. What fears and hopes did you have as a child - and which of those still linger on? What were your great loves and curiosities did you used to have that still shape your soul today?

Is there a way for you to get in touch with your inner child today and to come to Jesus as a little one?

Take a few moments in holy imagination to see yourself as one of those little children that day running up to Jesus and being scooped up into his arms. What is it like? What might he want to whisper in your ear today?
