Blessed Are
“Blessed are…” - Jesus, Matthew 5:3
Over and over Jesus blesses unlikely people. They are called the beatitudes in Matthew. But what if they weren’t finished when Jesus stopped preaching the Sermon on the Mount?
Today, lean in to these beatitudes. Does one of them really fit you today? Is there one you might like to write for someone else and send to them? What is the Spirit saying to you"?
Blessed are those who fall in the mud, who skin their elbows and bruise their egos, for they shall know the sweetness of risk.
Blessed are those who make giant mistakes, dust off, wash up, and get after it again, for they will discover the secret to dreams.
Blessed are they who take naysaying with a grain of salt, for their hearts will be houses for hope.
Blessed are those who stop running the race to help a fellow traveler, who slow down to aid the injured, for they will delight in the joy of compassion.
Blessed are those who make space for the excluded, who see beyond the surface of others, for they will savor the sweetness of connection.
And blessed are those who say yes to the crazy dreams that God’s planted in them, for they will receive the gift of a beautiful story.
