Conviction or Condemnation

On Sunday we talked about steering clear of shame when it comes to talking about money and at the same time holding to the radical teaching of scripture.

Today we come to one of those passages that cane easily invoke a sense of shame. As you read it, can you allow God to convict you, while not slipping into that sense of condemnation by yourself or any evil. Just read the passage. Think about it. Reread it. Ask yourself where is there an opportunity here. Where is there a challenge? Is there a promise in it? Where is there hope? What pushes you towards condemnation? What convicts you?

If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. - James 2:15-17
