Dancing or Wrestling

As we’ve been thinking about arguing with God this week, the intro to a long poem came to mind. It’s from a friend of City Church who has had plenty of these challenging conversations with God (used with permission of course). Perhaps you can relate to how Moses and God, locked in disagreement, were a bit like lovers, too. And perhaps you can relate to the wondering of whether what you’re doing with God is dancing or wrestling or maybe both.

Take some time with these lines. What is the Spirit saying to you? Is there a gracious invitation or perhaps some new clarity or perhaps even some arm twisting?

Am I trying to two step or tackle?

Is he trying to get my hips in rhythm

Or wrench it out of its socket?

See this season is a gift.

But how much I feel it depends

Am I wrestling or am I dancing?
