Expanding the Size of God

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
- Isaiah 55:8-9

What if we took God at face value here and figured out that we couldn’t figure out God? At one point on Sunday, Barak Bomani preached that we were invited to live in a place where there was no judging, no boxes, no time limit, and no hate, because if our understanding of God were expansive then we could treat other people as truly valuable. If God were truly gracious, truly good, truly ‘higher’ than us, then we’d have the permission and power to be radically welcoming to other people because we’d realize how radically welcoming God had already been to us so it would not be that much of a stretch to extend that welcome to others.

What would it mean for you if God were bigger and better than your belief system currently allows for? How would that affect your faith and your practice?

Why not try on that ‘higher’ God today? Seriously, why would you not try that on?
