Feeling Seen
My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
- Luke 1:46-48
The rest of the world probably didn’t pay much attention to Mary. She was a woman. She was a teenager. She was from a backwoods village. She was a peasant in an occupied country.
So it’s no wonder that she starts off her prayer with the above words, because through her experiences with God, she felt seen. As one translation puts her words, “he noticed me.” And being noticed makes a huge difference.
Who is it who notices you? What does it feel like when you are really seen. And do you feel seen by God?
Talk with God about these things, and as much as you are able, pray through Mary’s words above for yourself.
