God Calls, We Turn Away

When Israel was a child, I loved him,
    and out of Egypt I called my son.
But the more they were called,
    the more they went away from me.
They sacrificed to the Baals
    and they burned incense to images.
          - Hosea 11:1-2

As we think about God re-parenting us this week, one of the realities that we have to acknowledge is that so many times we run away from him. He calls, we run. He invites, we turn away. He provides, we whine. 

Most of the process of being re-parented comes down to actually letting God do it.  It's surrender, as always. Don't you hate to surrender? We can all admit that it's just so very hard to do. 

So where have you resisted God in the past day or the past week? Take time to really think about that question. Where have you opposed him? When have you been more interested in something else (usually your own comfort)?
