Great and Unsearchable Things

‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ - Jeremiah 33:3

How many of us have been jaded by the commercialization of the supernatural? You know, miracle stories told to sell books, Sunday testimonies to form that big emotional tug before the offering, or religious authorities uttering “God told me…” in order to control and manipulate.

And yet, the Bible is full of comments like “You do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:2) and the promises above about reaching out to God and being amazed by the response. Are there healthy ways for you today to acknowledge the skepticism but also to risk asking God for more?

Wrestle with that tension today and try not to dismiss either the doubts or the desire to seek more. Talk with God about it now.
