How Does God Heal?
How does God heal? Well, there’s a simple answer to that and a more complicated one. The simple answer is this:
God never heals the same way twice.
There are 26 occurrences in the Gospels when Jesus heals people. Not one of them is a duplicate. Sometimes he asks a bunch of questions, sometimes he doesn’t ask any; sometimes he lays on a hand, and sometimes he just speaks a word; sometimes he does it publicly and sometimes he pulls people off to the side; sometimes it’s instantaneous and sometimes it takes a while; sometimes he’s present and sometimes he’s somewhere else. Once, he’s doesn’t even do the work himself - a woman sneaks up behind him a ‘steals’ it from him! All in all, you just can’t nail it down.
But what’s helpful about this is the implication that Jesus takes each one of us as we are - with our baggage and our backdrop, and he works in us and on us to bring about our healing and growth.
So the real question today is whether you’re willing to go to Jesus for your healing, whether you’re open to it, whether you’re willing to risk for it (and remember, in at least once instance Jesus healed when the person asking admitted their faith was wavering!). Lay out your situation, your heart, your fears and failures, and ask Jesus today to bring you healing and growth.
