How Has God Spoken To You This Past Year

For God does speak—now one way, now another—though humans may not perceive it. Job 33:14

Job’s only wise friend, Elihu, shares these words with him about how God does indeed speak to His people. Elihu emphasizes three things. First, that God speaks. Second, that He speaks in various ways. Third, that we often do not hear Him.

This morning we are going to take some time to reflect on how we’ve heard God, and to listen to His voice again.

Elihu mentions four ways that God speaks. Reflect over your past year on which ways you’ve heard God speak to you, and write down some thoughts of what God has said to you.

  1. At supernatural moments (dreams, warnings, experiences) - Job 33:15-18

  2. In the midst of suffering or hardship - Job 33:19-30

  3. Through a friend - Job 33:31-33

  4. By the wonders of creation - Job 37:2-18

As you look towards this year to come, in what places of your life do you need to hear his voice?
