Jesus as Wisdom
As we’ve reflected so far this week on different ways to think about the gender of God, today we finally come to Jesus as the Wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:24). Part of God’s Wisdom is simply that different gendered images of God may be helpful and healing for us. And then there’s so much more.
If you think about the life of Jesus as Wisdom incarnate, how does that shift how you think of Her life on earth (if the feminine gender for Jesus is distracting here, think of it as referring to Wisdom, that feminine aspect of God, being incarnate in the human Jesus).
Incarnate in Jesus, Wisdom faced the brokenness of our world. As you think of Her touching a leper, giving sight to the bling, and blessing the poor, what is it about Her that you’re seeing anew? Imagine Her washing the disciples’ feet and see Her breaking the bread and sharing the cup - what is standing out to you? And see Her there on a cross, dying. What speaks to you?
