Jesus on Money

He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. - Luke 1:53

But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. - Luke 6:24

Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” - Luke 18:25

Jesus is not afraid to speak about the rich, and often his words are full of challenge. That is disturbing, especially in a time in history when one half of the world’s population makes less than $10,000 a year…. because it’s hard to define ourselves as anything but rich.

So look back over these comments from the Gospel of Luke with honest eyes and a humble heart.

• Why would God send away the rich?

• Why is a problem that the rich “have already received your comfort”?

• Why is it hard for the rich to enter the kingdom of God?

Ponder those things. Talk with God about those things. Pray about those things.
