Meeting God Right Where You Are
This passage acknowledges a paradox - both suffering and goodness exist for us. And this passage also acknowledges that it’s a big risk to ‘dare to hope.’ Read these verses through slowly and pay close attention to your heart and mind. What’s standing out for you? Where do you get stuck? Is there anger, sadness, despair? Is there encouragement or tenderness or frustration?
The thought of my suffering and homelessness
is bitter beyond words.
I will never forget this awful time,
as I grieve over my loss.
Yet I still dare to hope
when I remember this:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Lamentations 3:19-23
Whatever is coming up for you, name it to God right now. That’s the most important thing you can do today. Name that to God and lay it out, asking for the grace you need to be fully present where you are and to have God with you there.
