Love one another (allelon) as I have loved you. - Jesus, John 13:34
The Greek word allelon means ‘one another.’ It comes up a whopping 100 times in the New Testament. Alongside words like ‘grace’ and ‘cross,’ allelon is one of a handful of words that capture the essence of what it meant to be a Christian in the first century.
Christianity was never meant to be attempted alone. It’s always been a call to community. Even though that community often causes pain and always needs help to grow and mature, it’s still essential.
Where do you find yourself ‘one another’-ing well? Where have you gotten away from ‘one another’-ing? What might the Spirit be saying to you these days about these things?
