Proverbs

Today, we’re going to look at a few proverbs from the Old Testament. These are not laws and they are not commands. They are the sayings of the wise that invite us to uncover our motives, to understand the systems at work in the world, and to live in ways that honor God and other people.

As you read over these, ask the Spirit to spark an insight for you - then hold that insight and bring it to God in prayer.

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city,
but poverty is the ruin of the poor. - Proverbs 10:15

Those who trust in their riches will fall,
but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. - Proverbs 11:28

Rich and poor have this in common:
The Lord is the Maker of them all. - Proverbs 22:2

The rich rule over the poor,
and the borrower is slave to the lender. - Proverbs 22:7
