Safe Space Around Jesus

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.
          - Luke 10:38-29

Jesus had the uncanny ability to create safe spaces around himself for others. People like Mary could simply sit at his feet. She didn't have to prove herself. She didn't have to earn that spot. She certainly didn't gain that seat by virtue of being a woman (women were not allowed to be disciples, but apparently that didn't stop Jesus). Jesus welcomed her there with him. Jesus wanted her there with him.

Take some time and imagine yourself at Jesus's feet. Welcome. Near him. Safe.
