Saved by the Calling of Your Own Name
Jesus said to her, “Mary.” - John 20:16
The one word that changed Mary’s life was her own name, called out to her by her Savior. Think about that for a moment.

Jesus graciously allows space for Mary grieve. And then Jesus introduces joy simply by calling her name. There’s something about being truly named by your God that changes everything. And Mary was aptly named after the great leader Miriam in the Hebrew scriptures - a prophetess who would lead her people into new ways of knowing and following God.
Do you know what your name means? (try this or this as simple ways to research) How might God be speaking to you through your own name?
How are you at holding both grief and joy together? You may want to ask God to grow the capacity of your heart to hold these sorts of tensions, which are so common in the spiritual life.
