Simple Gifts
As we’ve thought this week about our gifts and the joy they bring us and the world, let’s close the week with the gift of being simply us. We get to embrace who God made us and be content with that and no more or less. Humility is not thinking of ourselves as less than God’s image bearers. True humility can be fearsome and strong because we “take hold of that for which Christ took hold of us” (Phil 3).
Today, listen to this old, old Quaker song composed for gatherings and dances for God’s people to celebrate and be themselves - and celebrate who God has made you to be.
Simple Gifts
Yo-Yo Ma (with Alison Krauss)
'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we will not be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.
