Surprising Kindness
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
- 1 Peter 4:8
Be kind to each other: It is better to commit faults with gentleness than to work miracles with unkindness.
- Mother Teresa
Have you ever ‘done good’ to someone with daggers in your eyes or hate in your heart? Sure, it’s better to do good to them with a bad attitude than to curse at them or hit them. But there’s something about a gentle and kind attitude that brings healing even when we screw up. And our world is so broken - and we are too - that it’s not like we’re ever going to get everything right. So we might as well love with excellence, knowing that it’ll carry the day in the end.
Is there a way you might surprise someone today with kindness? Perhaps disrupt their life with an unusual generosity, or with an extravagant word of encouragement? Just try it and see if you don’t meet Jesus in the moment as well…
