The Dream Keeper
This week we’ve pondered the ways that Jesus reverses what we ordinarily think and includes those on the margins, values those told they are unworthy, blesses little children, invites us to love our enemies, and makes sure that the very least and last know they have a prized place at his table. This way of being in the world, this way of living in the world, can feel quite like a dream sometimes, especially as wars rage, politics simmer, and all manner of evil speaks loudly and persuasively.
So today, we sit with a simple poem. Let out your wildest dreams of what it would look like to live fully in Christ and let the Spirit be your Dream Keeper.
The Dream Keeper
Langston Hughes
Bring me all your dreams,
You dreamers,
Bring me all of your
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers
Of the world.
