The Gift of Doubt

On Sunday we said this prayer together at church. It honors the people like Nicodemus who were curious about Jesus, but not certain. It honors the people like Alex, who shared his story on Sunday and was wondering by the end if just maybe God truly loved him. It honors all of us who have taken a winding road on our journey towards God. Pray it with gratitude for yourself today, and maybe consider praying it a a second time with gentleness for someone else.

The Gift of Doubt

We give thanks for the gift of doubt.
We believe in a God who meets us in the shadows,
Who welcomes our questions,
Who invites us to begin again.
We believe that Jesus showed us a new way,
A deeper faith,
A more compassionate existence.
We believe all of our beginnings should return us to this center,
And that no matter how many times we lose our way,
God always welcomes us home. AMEN.
