The Three Ways God Heals

I am the Lord who heals you. - Exodus 15:26

A while back, the Los Angeles Times did a long article on healing in the Christian tradition. The author generously painted the values of Christ, even-handedly pointed out some of the exaggerations by charlatans, and thoughtfully engaged in the realities of miraculous healing both happening and not happening. 

The lynchpin of the article was a quote by a Christian woman with cancer on her death bed who had a warm and vibrant faith. She was quoted as saying, “God heals through prayer, through medicine, and through death.” 

Those words seem to capture our reality as Jesus-followers so well. We are invited to face the world with both sober practicality and hopeful trust. Talk with Jesus today about what it means for him to be your healer.
