Thinking about Beauty
Whatever it is… beautiful… think about these things. Philippians 4:8
As we stood on the beach yesterday and looked at the ocean as a community, we took time to reflect on when God has showed up this past week.
One of the simple ways to do that was to reflect on where we have God is to ask, “Where have I seen beauty?” Sometimes we can overlook beauty or perhaps underrate it. But art, nature, and just the plain goodness of other human beings can be a window into the divine nature. The apostle Paul invites us to think about these things.
Perhaps the smile of a child or some special food you ate, a sunrise you saw unexpectedly or a connection with a friend, a scripture that spoke to you or a moment in silence that refreshed you… think back over your weekend and pause to remember what was beautiful. Think about these things for a few moments, and then respond with gratitude or praise or in some other way as the Spirit leads.
