Thinking of Mentors
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. - Hebrews 13:7
The word for ‘leaders’ here in the Greek can mean ‘one who goes before’ or ‘one with authority.’ In many ways, in our world we could call this a mentor - someone who has been on our path before us and we look to as an authority. The author of Hebrews said we should ‘imitate’ them - let them be our role models.
Brenna and Bill have put together a simple blog about some of the myths we bring to mentoring - how we can expect one mentor to be our silver bullet or we can think finding a mentor is too hard (or too easy). It may be a helpful read today.
Ask God to help you think this week about the mentors (and possibly the mentees) you have in your life, and to be open to taking a next step towards mentoring.
