We were like those who dreamed
We were like those who dreamed. - Psalm 126:1
in the message yesterday, Rev. Larry Dove kept bringing us back to the gift of being a dreamer. He looked at the dreams that Joseph, husband of Mary, experienced which kept him safe and gave him clarity to know what path to take. He talked about the dream of Martin Luther King, Jr, which cast a vision of radical equality and reconciliation in a deeply divided world. He invited us to consider our own dreams - to ponder when God had opened our minds to a new reality, stoked our imagination for something different and better, or given us inspiration to take a new risk.
In what ways are you like the dreamers Larry mentioned? Do you have a vision of how to protect your family, or a vision about how to do something risky for God, or a vision about how one part of the world could be set right?
And have there been times in your life when God has woken you in the middle of the night or in the boredom of your days to show you a picture of a preferred future that is not here yet?
Take some time to talk with Jesus about your willingness (or unwillingness) to dream, to imagine something new, to participate in something bigger.
