Weeping and Waiting

He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:6

Sunday there were a lot of tears. There was some ugly crying and there was some quiet crying. And there was just a lot of heaviness.

And yet so many seeds were sown just on that day. People reaching out to others to build relationships, people praying earnestly, people leaning in to learn new ways of soul care from Kay Higuera Smith’s remarkable message. There were several brand new folks in the mix and they jumped right in - they were ready to grieve and to pray as well.

In the sowing season, you can’t tell if you’re making any difference at all. The seed is below ground, doing what it can do to survive and start something new. You might be watching, but it won’t show up for a while. Sometimes, it feels like a looooong while. So there’s there’s no need to rush the grief. In this short verse, it sort of looks like the shouts of joy come quickly… but don’t be fooled. Stick to your grief these days.

Only then, after a lot of watering, weeding, waiting and working... there’s something new to truly celebrate. Months and months.

Peace to you as you weep and as you wait, as you sow and and you hope.
