Why Are We Blessed?
You are blessed to be a blessing. It’s a very simple truth, and it’s repeated over and over in scripture. Jesus himself was called “beloved” by his heavenly Father, and then he allowed that belovedness overflow it's bounds and pour out on everyone he met.
One of the early mentions of this huge theme in scripture comes from Genesis 12 when God is speaking to Abraham about creating a people on earth who would know God and share God’s goodness with the world. Listen to these words and let them sink inside of you. Maybe you’re not longing to be a great nation - but certainly there is some affirmation, some purposefulness, some belovedness, and some mission in these lines that can stir your soul. Allow God to speak to you this day through these words as you read and ponder them…
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing. - Genesis 12:1
