Your Most Holy Place

We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus. - Hebrews 10:19

Yesterday we talked about how, in Christ, God invites us all into the Most Holy Place. While that image was used by the author of Hebrews to evoke the awe and intimacy of the central space in the temple in Jerusalem, in Christ we get to expand beyond just a physical place. Bill shared about a remarkable dinner experience over the summer that was his Most Holy Place - where God felt near. Do you have a place like that, whether physical or experiential?

Brenna pointed out that the word ‘holy’ often gets loaded with a lot of unhelpful baggage. Sometimes intentionally and sometimes just as a carryover from our youth, ‘holy’ can mean ‘self-righteous’ or ‘distanced’ or ‘better than.’ She pointed out that at its core, in scripture holy really means whole. It’s where our entire self gets embraced by God, where we become integrated people.

Brenna also pointed out that often it’s the daily, little holy places that are essential to building the kind of relationship that has the ‘most holy place’ sorts of moments. It’s the breath prayers, the ‘thanks God’ before dinner, the walks around the block - these are the things that help us stay connected to God in and have a whole relationship with God. Do you have daily times/places/habits in your life that help you feel whole? Are those moments when you feel connected to God as well, or do you think of it in a different way?
