Eye to Eye

It was I who taught Ephraim to walk…
To them I was like one who lifts
    a little child to the cheek,

What beautiful images of God, the Parent who teaches us and insists on meeting us eye to eye - heart to heart.  Love doesn’t knock us down with an impatient “no”; it lifts and builds us up patiently (Eph. 4:29), helping us find a better “yes.”  Love doesn’t speak harshly, creating distance; it comes right down to our level and, with a gentle voice, draws us near.  Love listens to our hearts and provides what we really need.

Let’s spend a few minutes thinking and talking with God this morning:

• Where have you experienced God building you up and helping you find a better yes?  Where do you sense a need for God to do some work with you today?
• How have you experienced God moving toward you, listening to you and providing what you need?  Where are you noticing God inviting you closer, to be with you in your struggles?
