You are the Pearl of Great Price

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. - Matthew 13:45-46

The great reversal in this passage is when we rethink it and realize that it’s not just Jesus who is the Pearl of Great Price. From what we know about Jesus, he would say that YOU are the Pearl of Great Price! Let that sink in!

Think about it. Jesus “sold everything he had and bought it” in the sense that he gladly surrendered being in heaven in order to come to earth to find his treasure. As Philippians 2 says, “he did not count equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very form of a servant…”. That’s because you were worth it. You, yes, you.

Can you let that sink in? You are the beloved. You were worth everything to Jesus. You are that valuable, that loved, that sought after, that precious. Sit with this realization today.
