Friends?

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 
     - John 15:15

So many times we think of ourselves as God's servants, but according to this passage, that's not how he thinks of us! Jesus seems very glad to call us friends. I wonder if he was even eager to call us friends - to be intimate with us, to be close to us. Seems like that was the whole purpose in him coming after, right?

So how about you - do you view God as your friend? Or do you primarily think of him as "the Lord" or just "God" or perhaps "the Almighty?" Take some time to reflect on Jesus being your friend. Listen for him calling you 'friend.' Respond to him as a friend does - but spending some time with him.
