God Went on Pilgrimage

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been defining pilgrimage as ‘a journey with holy purpose toward a place of spiritual significance’ (Wes Granberg-Michaelson). In this remarkable little verse, God shows us that the original pilgrimage was Christ’s, not ours. And with that being the case, what does that leave as the place of ‘spiritual significance’:

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. - John 1:14

You are the place of spiritual significance. You are the place Christ came to visit. You were worth it. And you still are.

All the truths about our spiritual journey that we talk about so much around City Church draw their ultimate truth from this one: that God, in great love, went on a spiritual journey to find us and dwell in us.

Take some time today to ponder what it means that Christ came to you, for you.
