Hope in the Small Things
When the people of Israel started to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem 600 years before Christ, it seemed like it would take forever. They had to start small, and that small start felt discouraging.
The prophet Zechariah had a word from God for them: Do not despise the day of small things. - Zechariah 4:10.
On Sunday, Erica Valencia-Adachi talked about finding hope in the small things and not trying to be overly caught up in immediate changes in huge systems. In her own words:
“Know that even if you change one small part of the system, you’re making an impact on the entire system. Hope can be found when you realize you have power to change things, as small as they may be.” - Erica Valencia-Adachi
What small thing is God up to in your life today? What small piece of the political world (think: what work for the common good) do you see that might be a place for you to find and nurture hope?
