In Your Ordinary

Luke 17:20-21   Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”

Are you going to see the Kingdom of God today?

Much of the time we might be tempted to think the kingdom of God is in doing church things. Going to Bible studies, showing up on Sunday's, volunteering for kids min, etc.

Or perhaps we wait on the Kingdom of God. Jesus will bring it when he comes back. For now, we need to work on the many issues that plague the world until Jesus comes back.

These are all good things. Getting involved in the church and working on some of the problems in the world is a great thing to do. However, I think Jesus is trying to challenge us in our expectations concerning where His kingdom shows up in our lives.

In the Scripture for today, Jesus says the Kingdom of God is in our midst. It's right here, right now. It's in our ordinary and everyday lives. The key is keeping our eyes open for it. It may be in the cup of coffee you get with a friend. Or perhaps it is present when you play with your kids. It's in these things where we see the Kingdom of God.

So Jesus is challenging you today. Will you keep your eyes peeled for God's Kingdom in your ordinary?
