I am with you always...
Matthew 28:20 - …And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Yesterday we talked about expectations of the Kingdom of God. We saw that it can be found in the ordinary in our lives, like a meal with friends or playing with your kids. What are our expectations for Jesus though?
Maybe you don’t have any expectations of Jesus. Perhaps you think Jesus is far off and will only be present when he returns. You could even think that when Jesus comes he is going to wipe out all the evil and sinners with His righteous judgment. Set all of that aside. What are YOUR expectations of Jesus? Not what other people have told you. What do you see in Scripture to base your expectations of Jesus on?
In the passage for today, Jesus was telling His disciples that he would be with them to the end of the age. As it was true for the disciples, it is true for us. Jesus is in our midst today. Much like how the kingdom is in the ordinary, so is Jesus. Jesus is with us in the normal things of life.
What does that look like for you? Think about where you have seen Jesus in your everyday life. Keep your eyes pealed today for where Jesus might show up.
