Jesus Never Heals the Same Way Twice

When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother... He took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.

Have you ever noticed that Jesus never heals people in the same way twice? Sometimes the healing is public, sometimes private. Sometimes he speaks a word at a distance, other times he reaches out to touch. Sometimes he does the touching, other times he gets touched. Sometimes it comes with a teaching, others with a warning. Sometimes he is asked for healing, others he heals without being asked. 

Jesus's strange pattern of healing seems to emphasize that he sees each of our needs and addresses them in just the right way, including the need for us to continue on our journey of spiritual growth. For example, Jairus had plenty of public recognition, so his daughter's healing is private - Jesus isn't interested in giving him more privilege (like he did to the bleeding woman in the preceding story), but Jesus is still interested in giving the family healing and hope.
