Pay Attention to Relationship Shifts in Quarantine
Relationships shift when you’re in quarantine. You’ve felt it. You are strangely closer with that one friend, but you and your other good friend haven’t connected as well. Or maybe you have reconnected with a group of folks you haven’t seen in a while or found a new hobby with friends online making masks for frontliners or maybe your relationship with God has shifted because you have picked up the guitar to start learning some worship songs.
This is a good time to pay attention to those relationships, with an ear to what the Spirit may be saying to you about them.
On Sunday Brenna used the Connection Triangle to remind us of the basic relationships we all have.
UP: Your relationship with God (Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength - Mark 12:30)
IN: Your relationship with those closest to you and those who share your spiritual journey (Love one another as I have loved you - John 13:34)
OUT: Your relationship with the world - those on the margins, those who are different than you, those who are your ‘outsiders’ (Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others - I Peter 4:10)
Draw a triangle with YOU in the center & map out your own relational web - who and what are you in relationship with at each of the three corners (God, Community, and the Wider World)? What might the Spirit be saying to you about how those relationships are shifting during quarantine?
