Power and Love

As City Church embarked on its sermon series on politics, Brenna Rubio pointed out again and again in the message that power and love were meant to go together. She quoted MLK’s keen insight that one without the other is inherently unhealthy.

“Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Read that quote over again and see what the Spirit might be starting to stir in you as you think about the political process. What comes to mind?

Now take some time with this nifty summary of the character of God, written literally 3,000 years ago by David in the prayer book of the Bible:

You O God are powerful,
and you O Yahweh are loving. - Psalm 62:11

Read that quote over again and see what the Spirit might be starting to stir in you as you think about the political process. What comes to mind?

Pray about these things.
