Prayer to Resurrect the Church

City Church of Long Beach celebrates its 10 year anniversary on Sunday (Yay!!). Consider praying this prayer for our little church and for the big Church - the churches in our city, our nation, and our world.

Prayer for the Resurrection of the Church

O God we confess that we have wandered from your ways.
Change our hearts that we might look more like Christ. 

We have used power to conquer and control.
May the church be resurrected to the way of humility. 

 We have put certainty over faith.
May the church be resurrected to the way of curiosity.  

We have been far too quick to judge.
May the church be resurrected to the way of mercy.  

We have centered ourselves instead of the margins.
May the church be resurrected to the way of service.  

We have too often neglected our own self-care.
May the church be resurrected to the way of wholeness. 

 We have resorted to so many unhealthy comforts.
May the church be resurrected to the way of the cross.  

May the church be resurrected like Jesus. 
May the church be resurrected by love.
