The Little Fish

Jesus did a lot of big miracles — healings and raising kids from the dead and calming storms. He also fed the 5,000, and later he fed the 4,000. That’s a lot of big time supernatural action.

Our passage today is one of those miracles. But notice the little detail about the fish:

Jesus told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people, and they did so. They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them. - Mark 8:6-7

They had a few fish. And the fish were small. But what did Jesus do with the small fish? He gave thanks for them.

Are there a few small fish in your life you could give thanks for today? Perhaps - just perhaps - that practice of giving thanks will unlock yet another miracle. Keep an eye out for a real change inside of you or in the world around you - gratitude tends to make things better.
