Receiving a New Heart

This week we’ve been thinking and praying about what it means to have a tender heart and to resist the forces that would harden our hearts.

If we’re honest, it won’t take that long to get to the point where you realize you can’t keep your heart tender by yourself. Perhaps you’ve found this too: it’s just so very hard to change our attitudes, our character, our will.

So as we step into this journey with Jesus to stay tender-hearted like him, let’s remember who it is who ultimately can change the human heart.

Take some time with this passage. Let your imagination run with it - listen for how God would want you - yes you - to hear these words today. Invite the Spirit in.

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. - Ezekiel 36:25-27
