Self Discovery is Sacred

For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. - 1 Corinthians 13:12

One of the implications of this famous verse is the realization that when the world is made right, we will fully understand ourselves. The image of the mirror is profound - he’s saying that right now we just get a glimpse of ourselves there, but one day it will be a complete picture. This passage acknowledges that self-knowledge is sacred.

Jesus taught us to pray “on earth as in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). So if we have complete self-knowledge in heaven, doesn’t that naturally mean we should pray for it and work towards it now? Yes!!!!

This quote was read on Sunday. As you reflect on it now, ask yourself how willing and committed you are to this holy journey of self-discovery.

Each of us carries an imprint of divinity. This is what it means to be the image of God. It also means that self-discovery is a sacred pursuit. The more we come to know our true selves, the more we come to know our God. - Bridget Eileen Rivera
