The Gratitude Blessing

Boaz had heard the reports of Ruth being a remarkably generous daughter-in-law to his relative Naomi. Then he saw her in the fields, working long hours picking grain to feed Naomi. Boaz reacts to Ruth’s kindness by calling it out and then calling down God’s favor on her:

Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. May the Lord repay you for what you have done. - Ruth 2:11-12

What good have you noticed in others recently? Have you called it out? If not, it’s time to be “doers of the word and not hearers only” (James 1:22) right now. Take a few moments and send them a text or write an email or call them on the phone - and do what Boaz did. Boaz named the goodness in Ruth to her face and then asked for God’s blessing on her. You can do the same right now.

And if nothing immediately comes to mind, commit yourself to calling out the goodness you see in others today. Ask God to give you eyes to see opportunities - and most certainly the Spirit will do so!
