What Would Jesus Vote for?

The Spirit of the Lord is on me,

    because he has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners

and recovery of sight for the blind,

to set the oppressed free,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
- Luke 4:18-19

These were the opening words of Jesus’s ministry in the book of Luke. Then he said, “These words are fulfilled today in your hearing.” That basically means, “This is what I’ve come to do.”

See if you can make a list of priorities in those verses. Just scribble them down on a piece of paper. Then look it over. If this was all you had to go by (obviously, it’s not - but the thought exercise will be helpful), what would you say would be the sorts of political issues that Jesus would vote for?

How might these priorities impact your voting?
